(Top) Demonstration video for performing the experiment
Determine the permeability coefficient of the membrane
-
Fill feed container with 3 L DI water
-
Switch on the pump to achieve desired inlet pressure and retentate pressure
-
Take note of the volume of the feed, retentate and permeate. Determine the permeate flow rate for the volume of permeate collected with the time period
-
Repeat with varying retentate pressure to achieve more data points
Separation efficiency of ultrafiltrations system
-
Prepare 5 L of 5%(w/w) and 10%(w/w) maltodextrin solution
-
Fill the feed and adjust feed pressure to desired pressure
-
Adjust retentate pressure to desired pressure
-
Measure the volume change of the feed, retentate and permeate under various pressure levels within a time period
-
Measure the solute concentration of the permeate and the retentate, respectively.
Separation of fruit juice
-
Prepare 2 L of grape juice as feed. Collect about 10 ml for UV-VIS measurement
-
Adjust retentate and feed pump pressure to desired
-
Measure the volume of the feed, retentate and permeate.
-
Measure the absorbance of the feed, retentate and permeate using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer
